Lawn Application Season Approaches
Here we are again as the first seasonal lawn application time approaches. If you seen companies already applying their first product it’s not likely going to be very effective. Seasonal lawn applications must be applied at the right time, temperature and weather conditions for each application. They are manufactured and blended to preform their best when certain conditions are met with the soil, weeds (including weed seed), grass, temperature and moisture. The first lawn application generally should be applied when the daytime soil temperature is 45 degrees or slightly above. We were fast approaching those temperatures until Mother Nature stepped in and froze the ground again and provided snow. The good news is the snow will increase the moisture content in the soil when thawed which helps the grass and plantings in your landscape.
Our Basic 5 Lawn Application Program is designed and more importantly applied to have a maximum impact on a variety of weeds and provide food for the grass. Each lawn application is a unique blend of products for that specific time of the season and must be applied at eh correct time. Our middle application is specifically applied for grub control. This application is normally applied in late June. Seasonal lawn application (weed & feed) programs are a must for the long term health of your lawn. They are designed to slowly release fertilizer to help feed and thicken your grass while attacking a variety of weeds throughout the growing season. Their performance should be measured year to year not month to month. Normally, it takes years for a lawn to be properly restored. The only seeding you should consider for the spring is small bare spots for spot seeding. All lawn over-seeding and complete lawn restorations are preformed in the fall. If you need some help getting your lawn back healthy and looking its best give Ingram Lawn & Garden a call.
